Welcome to Ann K. Heiman Elementary School - Home of the Heiman Huskies!
We are proud that you have trusted us with the responsibility of the education of your child. We take this responsibility very seriously. We want you to know that we will do everything in our power to help your child grow and learn at the highest possible levels. We need your help and support, too! Please partner with us in providing your child with a great start to this new school year. Their are several very important things that I urge you to do everyday:
- Talk to your child every morning about how you expect him/her to behave at school that day.
- Get to know your child's teacher as quickly as possible - communicate with him/her regularly.
- Get involved at school - join the PTO or offer be a classroom helper.
- Read to your child or listen to your child read - 20 minutes everyday - no excuses. If your child is an independent reader, establish a regular time to read (without television) at least 20-30 minutes per day.
- Ask you child about his / her day at school - find out what went well for him/her.
- Establish a regular "homework" time and place.
- Try to eat dinner together - at the table - every night
- limit the amount of television and video games during the school week.
These are just a few suggestions that I encourage you to try. We want your child to be a successful learner and have a great year of learning at Ann K. Heiman Elementary.
